Around the ranch
Where everything is
Every event happens on property at Calamigos Ranch. Use the map to find your way between them.
Staying nearby
Prefer a hotel off the ranch?
If you're not part of the wedding party and would prefer to stay somewhere nearby, we recommend the Cambria Hotel Calabasas – Malibu.
26400 Rondell St, Calabasas, CA
Practical
What's the RSVP deadline, and what if my plans change?
Please RSVP by December 31st, so we can plan accordingly! If plans change, please let us know as soon as possible by texting Makena at (949) 584-7850.
Can I bring a plus-one?
We've kept our guest list to the people named on each invitation. When you RSVP, you'll see exactly who is included on yours.
Can I bring my child?
Please keep children at home! We love everyone’s little ones, but we hope to have a child-free wedding day.
What's the dress code?
For Friday night, please dress in cocktail attire. Short or long dresses, slacks and a button down shirt, or similar. Think up-scale backyard dinner party!
For Saturday, please dress in formal attire. Long formal dresses or suit & tie. We kindly ask that you avoid wearing brown.
Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors, and what shoes should I wear?
Most of the wedding and reception will be outdoors. While California is warm, evenings can cool down, so you might want to bring a light layer.
When does the event start vs. the ceremony?
Please arrive by 4:30pm to the Birchwood Room to take your seats. The ceremony will start at 5:00pm.
Where should I fly into?
For cheapest flights, we recommend flying into LAX. You can also look at flights into Burbank.
What transportation is available?
Uber from LAX should be easy. All of the events are on property at Calamigos Ranch, so once you arrive, you will not need a car to get to any of the events. If you are staying at another hotel, we recommend Uber or renting a car.
Is there parking, and is it free or valet?
For Saturday, there will be valet parking. For Friday night, follow signs for The Gentry Market and you should be able to find parking at the public parking lot.
Staying on property vs. a neighboring hotel: what does it mean for my weekend?
If you are not a part of our wedding party, you are welcome to stay at a neighboring hotel. If you are part of the wedding party, we have already reserved a room block. Information on that is available within the RSVP process.
We are hoping to have a relaxed weekend at the resort, so if you stay on property, you will have more resort access to day-time activities. Unfortunately, if you are not staying at the hotel, you won’t be able to access the Estate Pool, where we will be hosting welcome drinks. But other than the welcome drinks, anyone will be able to attend any of the weekend festivities. We hope you can stay on property and be a part of the entire weekend, but we completely understand if you would prefer to stay somewhere more affordable.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in will be at 4:00pm on Friday. Check-out will be at 11am on Sunday. Early check-in might be available. Contact the hotel upon arrival to learn more.
What's included in the wedding party room fee, and how do I pay?
Your full 2-night stay and most food and drinks throughout the weekend. Please Venmo me at @makena-ehlert or Zelle to (949) 584-7850. You will see the full information during the RSVP process.
Are the Friday events required, and are there other weekend events?
Friday night events are not required, but we hope everyone will attend! Our goal is to have an open weekend with everyone at all events as much as possible.
What food will be served Friday night?
We will be having a casual pizza night at Gentry Market, on property.
Will there be vegetarian, vegan or allergy-friendly options?
Yes, we will have options for everyone. Please specify any allergies within the RSVP process.
Will there be an open bar?
We will have beer & wine served for the first few hours. From 8:30pm and on we will have a tequila bar.
What time does the reception end? Is there an after-party?
The reception ends at 11:30pm (SAD), but we hope to continue the night at the Estate Pool for a post-reception pool hang. We just can’t get crazy rowdy and get a noise complaint.
Is the ceremony unplugged?
Yes, please don’t use your phones during the ceremony.
Is the venue accessible?
Yes!
What local spots do you recommend?
Pavilions, Malibu (Heathercliff Rd). I hear they sell a great new pre-mixed cocktail brand… it’s also in a great shopping center with other coffee shops and cafes. Next to Point Dume and Zuma Beach too!
Who do I contact with questions?
You can reach out to Makena at (949) 584-7850 for any help you need. If you have more complicated questions, please bother Spencer at (435) 659-0776.
Getting to Know Us
What is Makena's feeling about cigars?
Makena is not a fan… please don’t bring them to the wedding and please don’t gift them to Spencer (I really don’t want to smell cigar breath for the entire first year of my marriage).
How drunk does Spencer think you should get?
Let’s all be adults please. And don’t break anything that we would have to pay for.
What's “Zur Ranch,” anyway?
It’s just Calamigos Ranch lol
Who said “I love you” first?
Spencer!! But Makena said it back :)
Who's more likely to cry during the ceremony?
Spencer says Makena is more likely to cry… we will see about that.
What should I get you?
Your presence is the best gift! We know our wedding is on the pricier side, so please do not feel any pressure at all to send us anything. If you really feel the need to give a gift, we have two funds that we are just hosting through Venmo (because the other sites take a fee, which we think is a waste of money). You can see details on the registry page!
